Rancho Los Innocentes.(“The
Innocents”) This ranch is quite old, and originally
covered more than 15,000 acres. Today it is reduced
to a “mere” 3000 acres, and has transformed
from ranching to eco-tourism, taking advantage of the
corridors of land that have remained undeveloped over
the years. This ranch sits at the foot of “Volcán
Orosi,” a stunning dormant volcano that has provided
the soil which makes the area so fertile, and which
dominates the landscape throughout the ranch.
Guanacaste Province is horse country, and at Los Inocentes
we take great pride in the training and care of our
horses. A guided ride on a well-trained horse is the
best way to discover the beauty of the land and to experience
the variety of our flora and fauna.
You will see a wide diversity of tree, birds, and animals,
frequently including sightings of many parrot species,
toucans, sloth’s, and three of the four species
of monkeys native to Costa Rica: spiders monkeys, howler
monkeys, and white-face capuchin monkeys.
The horseback tour is one of the best ways to get an
introduction to the natural diversity of northwestern
Guanacaste and Lodge Los Inocentes. We offer two-hour
guided horseback rides for riders of all levels. These
rides pass through forest trails and open expanses providing
panoramic views, and it is virtually guaranteed that
riders will see abundant wildlife while enjoying a great
trail riding experience. For first-timers or for those
with limited experience, we have steady, gentle well-trained
horses ideally suited to beginners. We also match intermediate
and experienced riders to horses that will be responsive
to their riding abilities, and we can custom-tailor
rides to the desires of individuals and groups. You
will enjoy your wild west style experience at Los Inocentes
Ranch. |
