The Arenal Volcano
is one of the most active volcanoes in this hemisphere.
You will experience a most impressive view of the power
and energy a volcano delivers. The sense of the ground
trembling under your feet and at night seeing the ash
and lava cascading…will be a natural type of fireworks
you are not soon to forget.
The Arenal Volcano has been active
since 1968 and constantly produces eruptions that are
accompanied with powerful thundering sound. The ash is
carried by the wind over long distances, especially
to the northwest area of the volcano. The heaviest material
falls close to the crater. The lava flows out of the
crater have a temperature reading of over 1 000 Centigrade.
Arenal Volcano rises 1,633 meters above
sea level and casts an ominous silhouette on the land
below . This volcano is far from dormant and its constant
rumblings at night are Arenal's most popular characteristics.
